Private Property

When exploring our watersheds you will find that a lot of interesting places are on privately owned land. Please respect the wishes of the owners or their agents. Where a point of interest is mentioned that is on privately owned land, it is expected that the reader will observe it from the street, a park or other public area. In general one can walk across public areas such as parking lots, cemeteries and school yards, but where there are notices it is wise to check particularly if one is leading a group. The Principal of one private school graciously allowed me to lead a group though the school’s grounds which were posted against trespassers, when I explained the nature of the walk. Occasionally an owner will invite a group into his or her garden, but do not presume a welcome.
